It's Actually Very Pretty
In the middle of the night I had an idea for the Hoffman Challenge. Although I had done some thinking about it, this fabric had left me totally empty of ideas. But in the way that these things work, a variation of a previously rejected idea struck unexpectedly. So maybe after Christmas, if I ever finish stitching stars, I will do some preliminary work on a Hoffman entry for 2009.
In the meantime, I decorated my Christmas tree. It's odd, I always complain about how much work the tree is, but when it comes down to it, it's actually the only Christmas decoration I really like. I love to sit in the evening and look at the lights, and the ornaments all have a memory associated with them: gifts from friends, the children's projects, travel souvenirs. That's the way a tree should be, I think. All the other Christmas decoration stuff is just--stuff.
I totally agree with you. I could live without all the other "stuff" but the trees ( we actually have two) are what I love the most.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking at the Hoffman challenge fabric and have a couple of ideas. I may give it a go this year. Usually it is such "difficult" fabric that I pass. This one has given me a few ideas.
I'm still living without ANY of the stuff. Maybe today...I'll decorate and uh, put up the tree.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you finally come up with for the Hoffman Challenge.
it is pretty fabric - i love pasily designs - not sure i could cut it up. looking forward to seeing what you do.
ReplyDeleteits not the putting up of the tree and other stuff that's hard work - its taking it down. i get plenty of helpers for the former and none for the latter.
I can't wait to see what you come up with for the challenge. Paisley patterns are sometimes difficult but fun too. Those are my colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
I think the fabric is much prettier in person than on a computer screen...I know you'll come up with something special for it.
ReplyDeleteMy first reaction to the challenge fabric was - er, less than delighted! But it is beginning to grow on me. It will be interesting to see how everyone uses it.
ReplyDeleteI love the lights at Christmas, but decorating a tree has become too much hassle. Thank goodness for pre-lit trees!
Debra said the exact same words about the HC fabric. I haven't laid eyes on it yet. I am glad you are entering in 2009, I have been bouncing around a couple of ideas myself.
ReplyDeleteI too love having the tree up.
I did all the decorating yesterday & once I got into it, I was fine; but, up to that point, I wasn't very interested. And, it finally turned cold so now it feels like winter.
ReplyDeleteI think the fabric is pretty too, and I'm pondering some ideas that I'll be more serious about after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWe finally got our tree up too. It's so dark here these days it's nice to have the cheery lights.
I enjoyed the cheerful, reflective, warm holiday thought about your tree. Your right. Of course I don't have a tree up so I'll just live vicariously thru y'all.
