A Pretty Mess
Literally. This is a charming block, but clearly the piecing will not pass. My Quilt Pro program will no longer print foundations for paper piecing (who knows why), and the templates which the computer prints are not accurate. So--I tried to figure this out for myself. I could do that, now that I have figured out how to read the rotary cutting instructions which would eliminate some of the obvious errors, but there are a few bits that defeat me, like that second stem piece. That's not any standard angle.
Paper piecing is the obvious choice for this block, and there was a time when I would have drawn the foundations myself. But I'm not inclined to do that this time. So a certain challenge may just have to get along without me this year.
Oh Kay, do you know you actually got a guffaw out of me on this one! Not funny really I know but I couldn't contain myself.
ReplyDeleteI love wonky piecing and this one fits the bill. I'd just make the flowers a bit more wonky and say I did it on purpose.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely piece, though. I do like Joyce's idea. Probably won't fly for the challenge, but you could still make a wonderful "Wonky Garden".
ReplyDeleteI suppose fusing is out of the question? Always a bummer when something doesn't work out but it does make room for other things.
ReplyDelete(Now get to work on that tree, will ya???LOL!)
You gave it your best shot! I'm sure you have other things to do instead; like a real flower garden!
ReplyDeleteI use Quilt Pro too and I'm frequently frustrated getting it to do what I want. I'm thinking of changing to EQ -- but the cost is stopping me.
ReplyDeleteActually, I do like the wonkiness of your flowers, but if that's not what you intended --> frustrating!
Woops. I agree with Joyce that wonky is great. But you could just make the background pieces longer and whack 'em off at the right place so the stems meet up.
ReplyDeleteMy Grandmother always said, "Choose your battles!! Let everything else slide."
ReplyDeleteToo bad you couldn't figure out how to salvage this; it is so bright and cheery. I love your basket quilt that Deb Geyer showed
ReplyDeleteon her blog. You do such lovely work.
