I've been semi-snowbound for a week or so. I can get out, but haven't really wanted to. The South Bend area had a record snowfall last weekend, 38.6 inches. It's snowing again, and probably will for several days. Although there isn't that much snow where I live, (maybe about 20 inches), going anywhere is a hassle. So I've stayed in, and done some scrap strip reduction. Both these quilts are service quilts for my guild; when the second one is quilted, I'll have five to turn in.
I've been in a sort of brain-dead mode lately, and putting these things together has been just what I need. Bright colors brighten up the winter too!
I'm in the same mode. We were snowbound today after 20 inches fell overnight. I spent most of the day making mastectomy pillows as part of our service project and mug rugs for a swap I joined. Sometimes it's nice to have a mindless sewing day.
ReplyDeletePS I am a neighborly blogger and glad you stop by to talk over the fence.!
5 to turn in is really a lot of contributing and fun. Your quilts are happy and even happier shared!!!
ReplyDeleteOh. Right. ONLY 20 inches. What was I thinkin'...
I really like the 2nd setting with the strip blocks--very cool and contemporary looking!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have nearly as much snow (yet!) but I can relate to avoiding the hassle of going anywhere. Love that second quilt - full of color and happy thoughts!
ReplyDeleteFun and productive. Can't beat that! Plus, that Roman stripe variation is one of my favorites:)
ReplyDeleteooh! I like that second quilt! The white is so clean and crisp - it gives the colors that much more oompf. I think I will be happy when the bottom of my service pile scraps is finally void of 80's yardage. 90's fabric was so much more vibrant!
ReplyDeleteunless, of course, we're talking about school bus yellow... :)
