Some work

I've been making Christmas cards and a post card for my niece's birthday. The first card was a pattern from Quilter's Newsletter, and the second is my design. The design came out of a Quilt University class, and a small study seemed a good idea. Then there's the usual Christmas stuff: wrapping, mailing, some shopping, some baking, no decorating yet. That may come today, or not. Don't know why, but I detest the decorating part. Once the tree is up, I love it, but the rest of the decorating I could do without. It may be because no one in this male-oriented family seems to even notice, or it may be because my few years of selling at art/craft shows at the holidays made me never want to see a Christmas decoration again. In any case, less is more rules in this household.

  1. Love your cards! I'm with you about the decorating part. Back when we were first married and when the kids were little, I loved it...but didn't have much. The accumulation over the years makes decorating something to be delayed. Where the heck are those boxes, anyway?

  2. Love the postcards, Kathy! Such nice binding on that first one, too.

And I second that emotion re the decorating. I have never been a "decorating mom" and just keep a few decorations that have sentimental value.
The guys in the house don't care...and for some reason I just feel very laid back about all the gift procurement this year. Haven't even started yet. It's nice to be relaxed for a change over all of the holiday fuss!

Um, isn't that a form of aversion therapy? ;-)

    Love the presents card!

Awesome cards! And I'm on your team regarding the decorating thing. They're beautiful but lots o' trouble and a pain to put away. :)

  6. I'm with you all, I love how eveything looks but no one else seemed to care much until last year when I announced my intention to skip decorating because of the clean-up- howling and weeping. I like the doing but hate the clean-up so I make them do it now.

  7. Your cards are very attractive.
I used to go crazy with the holiday decorating but the last few years, for just the two of us, the decorations have been minimal. I do love the colored and clear lights everyone has up outside. It brightens up this dark time of the year and I think they should stay up until the days get longer.

  8. Love the postcards! Gawgeous! And I'm with you--if I didn't have children, I probably wouldn't eve bother dragging out the tree. I guess I'm a certified Scrooge this year.

  9. Love your cards. I'm slowly - resisting as much as possible - moving toward making a few holiday cards (but only if I give them away!)
