Busy

About a week ago I decided that maybe the broken dishes quilt I'd been dawdling over since June could make a wedding present for my nephew who is getting married the end of September. This gave me a real incentive to push to finish the piecing to get it to the long arm quilter by today so I can then bind it and take it to the wedding. I just finished last night, and here it is. A bit aggressive, isn't it? We'll hope they like it. The registry stuff wasn't too out of line with this look; they don't seem to be the ivory brocade place mat and crystal candle sticks type of people, or Pottery Barn minimalists--more the folk art and pottery look.

So this quilt, hurricane watching, and horrified fascination with the political scene have kept me busy; no posts, and very little blog reading. I hope to be back in gear soon.

Oh, wow! It's lovely, very striking. That's one lucky nephew.

Indeed, horrified fascination certainly describes it for me as well!

That's beautiful! I love the colors. I think the wedding couple will be thrilled. If not you can send it here!

(I too have been caught up in all things political.)

Kay, I love this post! Love the quilt (they will too). Love the characterization of the couple's tastes (I still have no idea what "type" I am--maybe you can help me!). Love the characterization of recent politics. It gets wackier by the day!! Like watching a train wreck.

It's a beautiful quilt, and you can give them my name if they want to swap it for something different...

I swore off political comments after my last rant/post, but I have to say that your description pretty much wraps it up!

Wonderful quilt, so graphic! I'm interested in how you like your new Janome, because I've been looking at that one for a while and wondering.

Kay,

You've created a REAL beauty here. I'm specifically noting creative/skillful fabric placement. What artistry. ;)

Love the quilt. So folk arty and yet elegant as well. It's sure to fit into whatever their style is.

I've been trying to be an impartial observer of the political maneuverings up to now. Horrified fascination comes closer to my feelings at this point! At least it's not boring!

What a bee-you-ti-full quilt! If the newlyweds don't want it, send it my way LOL! I am definitely a folk art and pottery kind of gal.

Very nice!! I don't think it's aggressive at all. I'm sure they'll be thrilled. I always tell people it's really okay if they don't want it, give it back to me and I'll give them something else. I'd much rather have them return it because it's not their taste than have it end up in the garage.
