Boring Baskets: Moving On

Boring Baskets as a working title doesn't refer to the finished look, I hope, but to the piecing process: slow enough to be tedious and time-consuming, and not difficult enough to be terribly interesting. This quilt has been in process a very long time.

After lots and lots of thought and advice and shopping and stash-rummaging, I settled on this blue fabric for the baskets, and can get back to piecing blocks. Ironically, although I had thought I couldn't move on until I settled on a basket fabric, when I started working today, I found there were several steps before the basket triangle had to go on. So more time has passed. But now, I hope I can buckle down and finish the blocks; the slow part with the flowers and the leaf unit has been done, and I'm sewing large units together now. There are also alternate blocks, but they are mostly strip piecing, all squares, no triangles.

Simply a lovely block. Isn't it surprising how long some projects take? They just drag on and on -- but the result is almost always worth the effort.

I think I can really understand what you're talking about when it comes to the piecing process. My quilt is in process as well and looking at my own blocks recently I was thinking about making a "little quilt" and throwing in the towel. Not liking what I'm seeing. (I digress)

I like this blue fabric you found. Nice textured look. Kinda perfect actually.

Beautiful flower that I hope we can lift up with a deserving title! hee. :)

These baskets will be anything BUT boring. It's a beautiful block and I look forward to seeing the finished quilt.

Wow, you sound like me and the BOM I did a couple of years ago. All the blocks were made with Thangles, 12 months of making HSTs with Thangles. It was soooooooo boring. And, yes, I complained from the third block on. But, combined with rail fence blocks, they made a beautiful quilt.

Well, perfect choice! I know it is tedious but something tells me you will get through it:)

Wonderful choices of fabric to make a sparkling, contemporary quilt based on a traditional pattern. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.

After all of that contemplation, I believe you have a winner! The blue is perfect.

It might be boring to sew, but it's absolutely wonderful to look at!

The blue was a perfect choice, and not only because blue is my favorite color. The quilt is going to be amazing.

What a beautiful pattern. It's going to be lovely, though I know what you mean about the process being tedious. Just think of how pretty the finished quilt will be.
