New Hoffman Challenge Fabric

I had several things scheduled for today, and I did do some Christmas shopping, but then I went rogue and drove to Shipshewana to buy the Hoffman Challenge fabric. Here it is. This picture doesn't show the color well; it's much more aqua but the photo gives a better idea of the range of colors than the picture on their web site. The real fabric is much less solid color than it appears. The design is directional, and there's about an 8 inch repeat. I like the Jacobean/Persian design, but hate the color. The coordinates Hoffman is pushing to go with it seem to be all in the green and blue range also.

I have no idea what I might make for the challenge this year, or even if I will make anything, but I'm ready for inspiration.

good luck with that -- I haven't been enough inspired by any of their challenge fabrics, although it's always fun to look at the quilts that get made from them!

I've never done a challenge but I'd be interested in seeing what you would do with it.

An 8 inch repeat? Well, they DO call it a challenge. You are so good at seeing hidden patterns. Can't wait to see what you find in this one!

Well first of all, since you went rogue I got distracted and if I were one to submit an idea --- it's lost! You cracked me up.

And there is the result of what I think was the last Challenge - the Elephant!!! Amazing that was. I love this fabric myself. It makes me think of... well I was going to list out some French things but we didn't so well with French fabrics on the most recent trip so I'll just be quiet.

Hmmm, looks challenging, alright.

I love that you went "rogue" and drove to Shipshewana. You aren't going to get all "mavericky" with this piece are you??? LOL!

I agree that the colors and pattern look pretty tough. I know you will come up with some special though so no worries there.

Happy fingers! I meant "something special".

Makes me think of all of the rocqua (red/aqua) quilts that I have seen in flickr/blogs.

But I bet you will see many almost monochromatic quilts - very cool.

HMMMM Something cool & contemporary - no idea what exactly, but that is the current feel.

Maybe a trite kaliedoscope - it seems to be asking for that.

Now that I've stopped chuckling about the "going rogue"...I kind of like it. It's much prettier than some of the challenge fabrics they've tortured you with(har)
You always come up with something really wonderful and I admire your perseverance in finishing. Several times I've thought I'd probably put it aside and pretend it never happened. That's how I got in the mess I'm in...nuf said?

Hmmm...it almost reminds me of home dec fabric. How do those Hoffman people come up with these fabrics?

Oooh, thanks for sharing that! Maybe I could use the pearls I bought for last year's challenge fabric (which I never got around to buying).

If you found some, I guess that means it's available. I'll have to "go rogue" in CA...or probably look online. It often takes me longer to FIND the fabric than to meet the challenge.
