While stitching lots of little letters...

I learned something.  Last summer I discovered that if you hold the bobbin thread when you start to zig-zag, the Janome pulls the knot to the back.  Now I discovered something even better.  If you DO NOTHING, don't touch any thread, both threads and the knot go to the back.  Isn't that great?  The only problem is that I have such a habit of holding a thread, it's hard not to do it.  But I'm learning.  So much faster, which is a blessing for this project.

Also, I'm wondering why Superior Threads makes their Mono-poly thread only in a very dark smoke or clear.  Neither color blends well on a medium fabric.  The Coats and Clark nylon that I no longer use blended better.

Finally, I just wasted some time looking at H of Paducah's on-line sale.  The sale batiks are beautiful.  I know what I said about batiks a while back, but these really are lovely, and with prices going up, it's a good opportunity.  I'm resisting.  I'll use my Christmas gift certificate on wool batting instead, but that's boring, isn't it?

Well you definitely learn a new thing all the time, ha? That Janome is really a nice machine!!! Thread is such a discussion, isn't it? Sheesh. They can't get right with it. Okay and personally Wool Batting is the best!!! I love it for quilts I'm going to possibly use and not hang up. It takes the quilt design so well, too. I just love it. Snuggly hugs, *karendianne.

With a gift certificate all bets/rules/etc. are off. With a GC you can buy whatever you want.

I've had to get used to the few little stitches the Janome makes before it takes off -- not sure if I like it but I have it.

I can't wait to see what you are making-looks fun!

They make some new super-fine threads (fine like a hair) in neutral colors that sound like just what you're looking for, but for the life of me I can't remember what they're called or who makes them. Sorry about that.

Did you say "batik sale?" ....I'm on it.

which janome do you have? I wonder if they all do that. I guess I will have to experiment with mine.

batting is boring. divide up your $$ and buy yourself some nice batiks!

I had to think about holding the bobbin thread for a minute. My machine makes a knot but Maybe I will have to re look at that process.

Good luck with the batiks, you addict, you1:):):)

Gift certificates - especially Christmas GCs - are supposed to be used for something fun! I'm sure that's written down in a rule book somewhere. LOL!

Oh, yes, a gift certificate! Decisions, decisions!

I'm late... but spend the $$'s on the batiks, they'll make a better blog post than the batting.
