Bah Blogger

Is anyone else finding Blogger totally insufferable lately? I know they were down for maintainance, but beyond that, whenever I try to read blogs they take forever to load, or the blog loads but not the comment screen, etc., etc. I haven't even tried to post myself. Is Beta really better? And when you get a Google account and have to give a user name and password should you use a different one or is it ok to keep the same one? I think someone said they had trouble by using the same name? I really will change one of these days soon, just haven't had enough spare brain energy for the effort.

Come over to see my new site: http://jettstream.wordpress.com

Rian said she tried to switch to WordPress today and had difficulty. I found it pretty intuitive (maybe it depends on which template you choose), and I think Deb Geyer managed to switch to WordPress without too much difficulty. I swear, no matter how difficult it might be to change, the speed at which WordPress works makes the learning curve worthwhile. And it's free.

I have found Beta faster, but when I decided to "custom" my blog, things went awry. Have tried to straighten things out, but now I'm not sure I even care. Certainly don't have the energy to switch right now!

I am hearing wordpress - I tried that & did not like it... I am still contimplating typepad - the for pay option...

beta is o.k., if you can, change the user name & password - just in case!

I'm such a technical woos...the guy who set up my website set up my blog for me...it is by Serenditpity and I adore it. I've only seen one other person use it, and I don't know why that is, because once you learn it, it is great. There might be a small fee for it but it is not bad (mine is rolled into my yearly website hosting bill)...
Hope you figure something out soon, as I miss your posts and pics...

Deb G told me she would join the Quilt Studio webring when she learned to manipulate her sidebar so I took that as a bad note on wordpress's features (& then Rian, techno wizard was stumbling) . . .on the other hand, there are bloggers who have never learned to do anything with their sidebars.

I think you should switch to beta and stay with something that is fairly familiar. The beta improvements are really so much more friendly and easier to use than plain blogger.

Plus, should you get in the mood, there are tons of "hacks" that have been written for beta. I haven't come across that many for wordpress. But, you could set up a wordpress and try it out to see.

Either beta or wordpress, it helps to know something about what you are doing. . .LOL!

Google has announced that they will migrate us all to beta in just a few weeks... whether we wish it or not. So guessing if beta is better or not is really moot at this point.

I have worked with wordpress and even gotten the ring stuff on the sidebar. Still, with the free hosted stuff, I felt very much like child being told that I was being protected by the good folks who know better... and not being able to see the template to work on things just frustrated me.
